Is It Enough?

In Ohio, a kindergarten teacher snatched up a six year old boy. Barb Williams is now under a 10 day unpaid suspension while the investigation continues. She slammed the boy against a wall and grabbed him by his face. Parents say the boy had bruises on his head. The family argues and says that a 10 day unpaid suspension is not enough. They say this is just like an early vacation. The policed are looking into criminal charges due to corporal punishment being illegal in Ohio and she broke the law. Williams also hired an attorney. However, if the school does not act quickly, they could also be sued.

In my opinion I think the teacher should have gotten fired or even a more severe punishment. A teacher cannot put his or her hands on a student. No child should be treated like that in a place that is supposed to be considered a “safe environment”. On top of that, I believe it is unruly to treat a child in any situation like how the boy was treated. Most would say this is child abuse if it happened in a home.

Parents of the six year old boy say the asked the school to transfer their son to a different class. At the time, Barb Williams was a highly recommended teacher and that the school was unwilling to transfer the boy to a different class. The school superintendent, Eric Hoffman, says they have never dealt with a situation like this at Riverdale, the school that the incident occurred at.
